A Love Letter to Their Wonderfully Weird, Fleeting Little Phases

I hosted a round of Personality Minis for the first time this spring and I'm OBSESSED.

These were the kind of sessions that reminded me why I do this in the first place. Zero pressure, maximum fun. Kids rolled in with McDonald’s fries, Nutella, Squishmallows, basketballs, stuffies...basically their entire personality packed into 15 minutes. And honestly? It was everything.

This particular session was extra special: three girls from two families I’ve known forever (like, newborn-tiny forever). These clients have turned into real-life friends, and somewhere along the line, the youngest girls ended up in the same class, became besties, and discovered they shared a favorite photographer. Love that journey for us!

Their moms booked back-to-back sessions so the girls could hop in some pics together, and the whole thing was just… so special. Like, warm-fuzzy, heart-squeezy kind of special.

They were 100% in charge...picked their outfits, packed their props, and basically took over as creative directors while I tried to keep up with the giggles. I’ve never had kids show up this excited for a session. Like, literal countdown-on-the-calendar excited... and it totally shows. Enjoy!

Wait, What Are Personality Minis?

They’re short studio sessions where your kid gets to run the show. Instead of stiff poses and fancy outfits, we lean into their favorite things right now. It’s like a time capsule, but with amazing lighting.

We’re talking:

  • 15-minute sessions
  • Full gallery to pick from
  • 5 images included
  • Bring all the personality (and the fries, obviously)

As a Fargo photography studio, I’m all about creating sessions that feel personal and fun—nothing stiff or cookie-cutter. These sessions are a great example of what’s possible when you let your kid be the boss (in front of the camera, at least 😉).

I’m not currently offering these as a set mini session (maybe next Spring!), but if this has you screaming "I NEED THIS FOR MY CHILD," you’re in luck: my milestone sessions are totally customizable and can be booked anytime. We can absolutely recreate the vibe... props, obsessions, junk food and all.

Whether you’re looking for playful portraits or something totally your own, I’m always down to create something fun. That’s what makes being part of the Fargo-Moorhead photographers community so special...every session can be as unique as your kiddo!
